Etihad Rail Completes 900km Track Linking All Seven UAE Emirates

The 900km national rail network now links all seven emirates, with travel times between Abu Dhabi and Dubai set to drop to 50 minutes.
The UAE’s national railway project, Etihad Rail, has completed its 900km main track network, officially connecting all seven emirates and linking the Saudi Arabian border at Al Ghuwaifat to the port of Fujairah. While the freight network became fully operational in early 2023, the project is now advancing toward the launch of its multi-city passenger service. Infrastructure and Travel Times The rail network utilizes a fleet of high-speed passenger trains capable of reaching 200 km/h. Once operational, the service will reduce travel times significantly across the country. Commutes between Abu Dhabi and Dubai are expected to take 50 minutes, while travel from Abu Dhabi to Fujairah on the east coast will take approximately 100 minutes. By 2030, the network expects to transport more than 36.5 million passengers annually. The passenger trains, manufactured by CRRC, feature aerodynamic designs and multiple classes, including first class, business class, and economy. Onboard amenities include Wi-Fi, infotainment systems, and charging stations at every seat.
