Dubai launches zero-interest rental instalment scheme to ease tenant costs

The Dubai Land Department will introduce a bank-backed 12-month instalment plan for tenants starting in September 2026.

The Dubai Land Department (DLD) will launch a zero-interest "Rent Now, Pay Later" (RNPL) service in September 2026, allowing residents to settle their annual rent through monthly instalments. The initiative, developed in partnership with a local bank, aims to remove the financial burden of large upfront rental payments while ensuring landlords receive their full annual income immediately. How the repayment mechanism works Under the new system, a participating bank will pay the landlord the total annual rent in a single upfront transaction. The tenant will then repay the bank in up to 12 monthly instalments at zero interest. This shift moves the financial obligation from a direct landlord-tenant relationship to a structured banking arrangement, according to details reported by Emarat Al Youm on Friday, 14 August. The DLD and its banking partners are currently finalising the legal and operational framework. While the service is marketed as interest-free, the department has yet to confirm whether administrative or processing fees will apply to applicants.
